experience in the snow in Sestriere, near Turin (December 2010) 
Hello,
today I speak of our experience in the snow in Sestriere, near Turin (December 2010):
We started (and back ) in 42.
After about 8 hours of travel (from Lucca) we arrived in the late afternoon, at Sestriere (the last 10 km with snow chains) the booked hotel, with rooms all equipped with bathrooms, has exceeded expectations with staff kind and considerate.
The dinner was good (something that seems unimportant .. but instead, the food, when they organize the trips, it is always cause for criticism ...).
Rooms clean and well maintained.
The next morning, in agreement with Gianfranco Martin (silver medal winner in Albertville Olympics ski 1992), which manages the hotel (Hotels Lake Losetta) and vice president of Freewhite (http://www.freewhite.it/) we brought the children with disabilities (there were around 16) to the ski slope at about 700 meters. We were welcomed very well
Dario (president of Freewhite) and 3-4 other ski instructors. Depending on the type of disability the boys were lovingly placed on 3 different types of wheelchairs with skis instead of wheels (in practice, the teachers were behind us as you do with the wheelchairs on the road and directed them).
I was checking that there was a restaurant close to be able to stay warm skied there who do not own a restaurant next to the ski slope. Until
13:00 i ragazzi hanno sciato, poi abbiamo pranzato e nel pomeriggio siamo andati al ...Golf.
Nel Palazzetto dello Sport c’è un ragazzo di nome Hermann che insegna a giocare a Golf ed ( www.vialattea.it/it/show/129/Golf%20Indoor ) è presente un tipo di simil-carrozzina che permette ai ragazzi di stare verticali come “sulle proprie gambe”: in tal maniera tutti sono stati in grado di colpire la pallina.
Poi alle 18:30 abbiamo preso la Messa in Chiesa con un Parroco molto gentile (lo avevo contattato giorni prima).
Il giorno dopo abbiamo fatto le stesse cose ma la durata del Golf è stata di un ora invece che di due per permettere di riposare un poco di più a tutti.
Il giorno dopo siamo tornati a Lucca.
Conclusioni:
Da anni il nostro gruppo, dopo le due buone esperienze in Sardegna, chiedeva a me ed a Federico di organizzare una vacanza sulla neve; quest’anno Angela (che ringrazio molto) ha trovato il luogo, l’Hotel , un ottimo prezzo per il tutto, e questa associazione “Freewhite” (vedi youtube) che fa sciare i ragazzi con carrozzine apposite per la neve…. come dire di no?
Si, è stato un poco stressante l’organizzare la minivacanza ma ne è valsa la pena… voi sapete come ci ripagano certi sorrisi e sguardi dei nostri ragazzi… sono felice di aver contribuito nel mio piccolo a rendere possibile un sogno che sembrava per loro irrealizzabile... a farli essere protagonisti sulla neve… che bello!Ciao! L’associazione Freewhite ha una nuova “carrozzina”, unica , per ora, in Italia, per il periodo estivo ( http://www.dualski.com/en/cimgo ); è guidata da un maestro che fa scendere i sentieri sterrati del Sestriere!! … perché non pensare a fare una vacanza estiva sui monti?
